Athlete of the Month: Kolby | GFinny Baseball

Coach Grant observed: "Kolby has gotten after every phase of his game this month, and he's showing high levels of leadership within his group."

When Kolby Rice first walked into the GFinny program a little over five months ago, he barely said a word. He showed up, did the work, and let his swing do the talking. Getting him to open up, let alone lead a group, seemed like a long way off.

That's not the Kolby anyone sees today. This month he locked in on one of the toughest habits in hitting: staying inside the ball, and doing it with the kind of confidence that holds up rep after rep, session after session. It showed up in games too. His bat was a big part of helping his team win on the hitting side, and he backed it up by leading his group the entire session, not just when things were going well.

The quiet kid from five months ago is gone. In his place is an athlete who smiles, who enjoys the grind, and who other players look to for how to compete.

Coach Grant added: "Super pumped up for Kolby, and excited to see what he continues to do."
